Rental Terms
All vehicle rentals are governed by a comprehensive Rental Agreement, which you will receive upon booking confirmation or at the time of vehicle pickup. This document outlines the specific terms, conditions, insurance coverage, fees, and your obligations for that rental. In case of any discrepancies between these Terms and the Rental Agreement, the Rental Agreement will prevail.
Eligibility Criteria
Renting a vehicle with Speke:
- To rent a vehicle from Speke, you must be at least 21 years old. Age restrictions may vary depending on the vehicle type, with extra fees applicable for drivers under 25. A valid, full driving licence appropriate for the vehicle category is required, along with valid identification and proof of current address. You will also need to provide valid payment information and a security deposit, as well as meet any additional requirements outlined in the Rental Agreement.
Booking and Payment Terms
- Reservations can be completed via our website, over the phone, or directly at our Dartford office. A deposit may be necessary to confirm your booking. The remaining balance and security deposit are usually payable upon vehicle pickup. All prices are listed in British Pounds (£) and include VAT when applicable. We accept all major credit and debit cards through trusted payment processors.
Vehicle Pickup and Drop-off
- Upon collecting the vehicle, it is your responsibility to conduct a thorough inspection and report any pre-existing damage without delay. A vehicle condition report will be generated and signed at this time. The vehicle should be returned in the same condition as it was collected, taking into account normal wear and tear. Any new damage will be evaluated and billed as necessary. Ensure the vehicle is returned with the same fuel level as when it was picked up; refueling fees will apply if the fuel level is lower. Late returns may result in additional fees, so please inform us promptly if you expect to return the vehicle later than scheduled. You will be accountable for any parking fines, traffic violations, or other charges incurred during your rental, in addition to an administrative fee.
Insurance and Responsibility
- All rentals include basic third-party insurance. For comprehensive coverage information and details on excess amounts, please refer to your Rental Agreement. Additional insurance options may be offered to help limit your financial liability. It is important to review these options thoroughly. You will be liable for any damage or loss up to the specified excess, unless additional coverage applies. Negligence, misuse, or violation of these Terms will make you responsible for damages, irrespective of any insurance coverage.
6. Modifications and Cancellations
Cancellation and amendment policies differ depending on the type of booking and the notice provided. For precise information, consult your booking confirmation or Rental Agreement. Please be aware that late cancellations or no-shows may incur additional charges.
Prohibited Activities
Prohibited Vehicle Uses
- Use of the vehicle for any unlawful activities is prohibited. Engaging in racing, rallying, off-roading, or other dangerous pursuits is not allowed. Transporting hazardous materials is strictly forbidden. Sub-letting the vehicle or permitting unauthorized drivers is not permitted. Driving while impaired by alcohol or drugs is unacceptable. The vehicle should only be used for its intended purposes, and passengers or weight limits must not be exceeded. Driving outside the designated geographical boundaries without prior approval is not allowed.
Breach of these terms may lead to rental termination and extra fees.
Limitations on Liability
To the fullest extent allowed by English and Welsh law, Speke Car Hire disclaims responsibility for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, including loss of profits, data, or business resulting from your use of our services. Our total liability for any claims will not exceed the amount you paid for the rental in the previous 12 months. This limitation does not apply to liability for death or personal injury due to negligence or fraud.
Governing Law Overview
These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes will be handled exclusively by the courts in this jurisdiction.
